ORTHOPEDIC FOOT AND ANKLE SURGEON

Dr. Megan Chapter-Zylinski’s interest in medicine started at a young age as she developed an innate passion for helping people in times of need. Exceling in the sciences and biology, medicine became a natural career choice. While growing up along the Jersey shore, her family always promoted the concept of health, wellness, and maintaining an active lifestyle. She was involved in multiple sports during her youth, ranging from cross country running, lacrosse, soccer and dance. Throughout that time, she became aware of the myriad of challenges that musculoskeletal injuries can inflict on a person and/or athlete – thus steering her interest towards the specialty of orthopedic surgery.
Once completing high school, Dr. Chapter-Zylinski earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Neuroscience from Franklin & Marshall College. She subsequently completed a post-baccalaureate program in Neuroscience at the National Institutes of Aging division of the NIH in Baltimore, MD. During that year, her research focused on identifying receptors and peptides contributing to aging pathology, such as Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s disease. She then earned her D.O. degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2013. Her choice to specialize in orthopedic surgery was driven by her desire to help patients stay active. She remained at Rowan University and completed her 5-year orthopedic surgery residency at the Jefferson Health Hospital system. Once completing residency, she was selected to complete an orthopedic foot and ankle fellowship at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan, NY.
Today, Dr. Chapter-Zylinski practices as an orthopedic foot and ankle specialist at NYU Winthrop Orthopedic Associates in Garden City, NY. She continues to participate in research alongside the foot and ankle faculty at NYU Langone Health focused on sports related injuries of the foot and ankle. She has a passion for education, and serves as a clinical assistant professor for the orthopedic residency program at NYU Winthrop Hospital. Although treating a wide variety of foot and ankle conditions, Dr. Chapter-Zylinski specializes in deformity correction, total ankle replacement and cartilage restoration procedures of the ankle. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO), and American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS).
